Storebø Sauna

Storebø Sauna opened in January 2025 at Storebø Brygge on Austevoll, land-based, wood-fired and sized for twelve. It stands in front of newly built blocks in an area that has grown fast, and that shaped the building: it has two outer doors, one from the land side and one straight out to the sea. That keeps the change between sauna and sea short, and it turns the bathers' backs to the windows looking down on the site. Austevoll Idrettsklubb is behind it, and the design work ran closely with the landowner. The result is a calm zone in the middle of something otherwise under development.
