Stanghelle Sauna

Stanghelle Sauna stands in Agnavika in Vaksdal and opened in January 2025. The idea came from the village: in 2019 Stanghelle Idrettslag set aside 50 000 kroner for a project that would benefit the community, and one of the residents' suggestions was a small building in Agnavika. The board first wanted the sauna on the water or on the concrete quay, but spring tides and the waves in the fjord made that difficult. We advised them to put it on land, in the far corner of the bathing spot, so it takes up as little of the shared area as possible. That also made the sauna cheaper and easier for everyone to get to. It takes twelve people, and Sparebanken Vest financed it. We designed the sauna, handled the applications, the planning case and the agreement with the municipality, and made the website, booking and lock. Teige Nes Bygg built it, and Stanghelle Idrettslag owns and runs the sauna.
