Rosendal Badstove
Rosendal · Rosendal Turnlag
Rosendal Badstove is a project we are working on with Rosendal Turnlag and Rosendal Bygdelag, to establish a low-threshold sauna at Malmangervikjo in Kvinnherad. The site lies within a state-secured outdoor recreation area, a category that traditionally sets strict limits on intervention. We therefore framed the application as a temporary change of operating model, so that the sauna strengthens the recreational purpose rather than competing with it. Operation is bounded by, among other things, an unlocked changing room without booking and fixed free periods on weekday mornings, so the facility is genuinely open to everyone using the bay. The cooperation model is central: the gymnastics club is the formal client, and the village association is an equal contracted partner. That way two local organisations with their own resources and networks pull together rather than stepping on each other's toes. The structure has since become a template for how we work on several other projects where two or more local associations stand together. The project is financed through the association model and has received, among other things, 170,000 kroner in pre-project support from Sparebanken Norge. The case is now going through Kvinnherad municipality and Vestland county council.
