With Os Sauna we wanted to carry the Bjørkheim concept forward, adapted to a new place and new needs. Close dialogue with Os Turnforening surfaced a wish for an easily accessible sauna that could serve both physical and mental health. We drew a floating sauna for Osøyro, built for durability and energy efficiency, in a language borrowed from local building tradition. The structure withstands the hard maritime climate. Booking and access are self-service through the system we built ourselves, which keeps the threshold low. Os Sauna is now a meeting place across generations, and it was the project that proved the model could work for others than ourselves.
