In the Kristiansand guest harbour we produced the entire tender documentation for the competition on behalf of our client Blaud, who won the contract. The building itself is by Sydvest Arkitekter, while we were responsible for all the technical and documentary groundwork: material choices, environmental assessments and a climate account, and the premises for how the solution could meet the requirements for universal design, transport and assembly. The sauna is a prefabricated module that can be lifted into place and moved if needed. It is built in solid glulam blocks on a reversible foundation of precast concrete elements, clad in aluminium profiles with doors and windows in recycled aluminium. Inside, the solution is adapted to wet zones with robust flooring, and heating is electric. Around it are a cold plunge, showers and bathing steps, so the installation works as a complete bathing place. The sauna is finished and in operation. During development the project was called Skagerrak Sauna.
