Geilo Badstove is being developed with Hol municipality, through Hol Frivilligsentral as client, and in close cooperation with Geilo Badstuelaug. The sauna will sit by Ustedalsfjorden and draws together several local actors: the ice bathers, Visit Geilo, Geilo Sti og Løyper and the Geilo town committee have all been involved since the founding meeting in March 2025. We have assisted with the project description, the financing plan and the grant applications. Financing is secured at over one million kroner, from Skuestiftelsen Hol and Sparebankstiftelsen DNB among others. The project is an example of how a municipality and a voluntary sector can pull together without the facility having to sit on the municipal balance sheet.
